Plastic Surgeon

Mr Pouya Mafi is a fully UK-trained plastic surgeon with a strong academic background and a special interest in body contouring following weight loss. He holds the specialist qualification in plastic surgery, FRCS (Plast), and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

His extensive NHS training has taken him through major trauma centres and specialist surgical units across England, including University Hospital Birmingham, University Hospital Coventry and Royal Stoke Hospital, alongside Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the St Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns. This has provided a broad foundation in complex reconstruction, trauma, burns, hand surgery and skin cancer surgery. He has also undertaken the prestigious BAAPS cosmetic surgery fellowship, further developing his training in aesthetic surgery.

Mr Mafi graduated in Medicine from Hull York Medical School with Double Merit, receiving both the Bob Morton Memorial Prize and the York Medical Society Prize. Alongside his medical qualifications, he holds a First Class Honours degree in Medical Sciences with Management from Imperial College London Business School. He also completed studies in Management Accounting and Financial Control and Microeconomics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, achieving Grade A in both.

His achievements include the 2025 British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons National Poster Prize, semi-finalist recognition in the ICOPLAST World Olympiad in Plastic Surgery, and finalist recognition for the Association of Surgeons in Training National Surgical Trainer of the Year.

Mr Mafi has authored over 27 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to a surgical textbook and a book chapter, and presented at 10 national and international conferences. His research spans reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, tissue engineering and surgical outcomes, including the complications of cosmetic surgery abroad.

His particular clinical interest is helping patients address excess skin and changes in body shape following substantial weight loss, with a focus on the abdomen, breasts, arms and thighs. His approach places careful planning, clear communication and realistic expectations at the centre of care, recognising that comfort, confidence and quality of life are deeply personal to each patient.

Mr Mafi speaks English, German and Farsi fluently.
